Three weekly sessions - Tuesdays now (not Thursdays)

Deadline to register is Jan 2

The link will be sent once you register

WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION

Mack Sutter taught carving for 40 years using a series of 12 relief patterns that became progressively more difficult.  This workshop will carve a slight variation of the fourth pattern shown above out of a hardwood, Black Walnut, perhaps Mahogany.  The Prerequisite is taking a prior Mack Sutter workshop, or some experience with relief carving.  The focus is on those new to relief carving.

DATES/TIMES - Three consecutive Thursdays, 9:30-12:00.  There is a separate but identical class on Saturdays.

If these dates or times don't work for you send an email to Larry Wade to let him know your alternative preferences.  A second weekday class will likely be scheduled, and day or evening and day of week will depend on interest.

COST - Tuition is free but a totally optional, free-will donation is requested to the Oregon Carvers Guild upon completion of the class.

Materials are not free and are likely to cost about $25 plus possible postage if they need to be mailed.

WORKSHOP LEADER is Larry Wade.

ONLINE only, Omicron is not allowing any in-person attendees

ZOOM - students must be comfortable using Zoom - participant Information and recommendations -  are HERE

WOOD - A hardwood blank (Cherry) and a spare will be provided along with one practice piece of basswood that is pre-band sawed.  Some free loaner tool sets are available to be mailed or picked up at the Instructor's home near Beaverton.  If necessary, the cost to mail the wood and any tools is an additional $16.25.  You need to mail or bring the tools back a month after the class ends.

REQUIRED BOOK - none

TOOLS -
Loaner tool sets are usually available for no charge.  You will need a strop, but we can supply the leather and instructions if you need to make one.  Tools can be either long or palm handed.  You may need to purchase or borrow a short bent #2 or #3 to get into the tight spaces since we don't know if yet if we will have loaner versions.
